People of Marysville / Public safety
The chiefs who have led Marysville’s fire service since 1923, from the Marysville Fire Department to today’s Marysville Fire District, with each chief’s years of service.

About this list
The Society’s list begins with John Geddes, who joined the department in 1914 and became chief in 1923, and continues to the present chief. Each entry records two spans: the years a person served with the department and the years spent leading it. One entry is an interim chief. Names and dates appear as recorded in the Society’s research; where other material gives a different date, the individual record says so.

Fire Chief
The Society’s records list his Marysville fire service as beginning in 1968; other biographical material gives 1972 as the start of his full-time firefighting career. He served as acting fire chief beginning in 1983 and became the permanent fire chief in 1984. This list keeps the broader 1983–1993 period used in the Society’s records.
