Accessibility
Marysville history is for everyone.
We want everyone to be able to explore Marysville’s history on this website, whatever device, browser, or assistive technology they use.

Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The website is maintained by volunteers, and we check pages as we add and update them.
What we’ve done
- A “Skip to main content” link and clear page landmarks.
- Pages that work with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
- Text descriptions for photographs and artwork.
- Labeled form fields, with error messages that screen readers announce.
- Light and dark themes, and reduced motion for visitors who prefer it.
- Layouts that adapt to phones, tablets, and enlarged text.
Known limitations
- Many documents in the Museum Library, the Marysville Globe archive, and the meeting minutes are scans of older printed pages. They may not read well with a screen reader, and some are large files.
- The event calendars, the map, and the videos are provided by Google and YouTube, and their accessibility is outside our control.
- Some forms, such as the volunteer application, are currently printable PDFs.
If anything on the website is hard to use, we’re glad to help. We can describe a photograph, send information in another format, or take your request by phone.
